FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Permanent Makeup & Microblading

Q: What is microblading?

A: Microblading is a permanent cosmetic tattooing technique using a handheld tool with tiny needles (“micro blades”) the diameter of a natural hair. Using the “micro blades” superficial strokes are created in your brows that mimic your own natural hairs. Using this technique the brows are filled in in areas where you may have holes, thinning or no brows at all. The results leave you with perfect brows that look natural. Microblading typically last in the skin 3-4 years. Maintenance touchups every 6-12 months will keep brow pigment looking fresh

Q: How long does it take?

A: The initial appointment takes about 2.5 hours. The first half of the appointment includes a full consultation, intake forms, anesthetic numbing, brow shaping, color matching, & review of aftercare instructions. The second half of the appointment is the procedure itself.

Q: Does the procedure hurt?

A: A topical anesthetic numbing cream is used prior to procedure, this helps to dull the pain associated. You can expect minor level of discomfort during the procedure similar to brow tweezing. I use a two step numbing protocol, the second numbing is applied after the first pass of the procedure is done; most clients don't feel any sharpness after this step.

Over the counter pain medicines can help to take the edge off, but there are certain medicines you should avoid taking. Any medications that contain anticoagulants should not be taken prior to your appointment. Anticoagulants are commonly referred to as blood thinners; they are chemical substances that prevent or reduce coagulation of blood, and prolonging the clotting time.

Please consult with your doctor prior to taking any medications.

Q: What after care do I need to follow?

A: At your appointment you are given a form with aftercare instructions. I also will verbally go over all your aftercare instructions to insure you know how to treat your tattoo during the healing process.. Aftercare is key to achieving great microblading results.

Here are the top 3 aftercare instructions to be aware of:

1. No sweating or getting brows wet for 7-10 days.

2. Apply provided ointment to the brows for 7-10 days.

3. No makeup in or around the brows for 5 days.

At your appointment I will teach you all the tips and tricks for making aftercare easy to follow.

Q: How long does it take to heal? And do I need to take time off work?

A: Healing is a breeze and takes about 10 days for the scabbing to form and naturally flake off. I don't find it necessary to schedule time off work for healing. You can have minor swelling 1-2 days and brows will appear dark and thicker for the first week, but nothing worth hiding over.

Q: Why is there a deposit?

A: A $100 deposit is required to schedule and secure your appointment and is deducted from the total price of your tattoo. This deposit is to ensure that you are serious about your appointment. Deposits are non-refundable but transferable to reschedule an appointment, as long as 24 hour notice given.
